Loja tapaculo

The Loja tapaculo (Scytalopus androstictus) is a species of bird in the family Rhinocryptidae that the South American Classification Committee of the American Ornithological Society accepted as a new species in July 2020.[1][2] It is found in Ecuador and Peru.

As of January 2021, the Clements taxonomy considers it to be a subspecies of paramo tapaculo (S. opacus androstictus), but the International Ornithological Congress (IOC) considers it a distinct species.[3][4]
