Production
The film is directed by actor Captain Raju in his second directorial venture after Itha Oru Snehagatha (1997).[2][3][4] The film began production under the name Mr. Pavanayi 916 before the name was changed to Mr. Pavanayi 99.99.[5][2] Newcomers Devadevan (Vijayaraghavan's son) and Pinky (Ponnamma Babu's daughter) play the lead roles in the film.[2][3] The film was touted to be a comedy film.[5]The film was completed in 2012, but the release was delayed due to issues with the producer.[3] Captain Raju, reprises his role as Pavanayi from Nadodikkattu (1987) although his character died in the film.[3][6][7] The film is a spin-off of Nadodikattu and was shot in Pathanamthitta.[8][1] Raju had previously played a cameo as Pavanayi in Masterpiece (2017).[9][8] In this film, Pavanayi will be shown that his intentitions is to rid the world of evil as opposed to the character's behavior in Nadodikattu in which he attempts to kill two characters.[10]
Legacy
After the film was launched, Captain Raju announced his interests of making a film titled Mr. Pavanayi 001 Kerala James Bond.[10]
